WHERE:       Grace Church on-the-Hill, 300 Lonsdale Road

SUBJECT:    Proposed Re-development at 377 Spadina Road

 

Dear Resident,

 

As your local councillor, keeping residents informed and engaged is a priority for me. I have heard from many residents who are interested in receiving more information regarding a potential re-zoning application for 377 Spadina Road, and would like to invite you and your neighbours to an important meeting to discuss this proposal.

 

The new owner has advised me of their plans to build townhouses flanking Montclair Avenue and an underground commercial parking lot accessed off of Spadina Road.

 

This proposal has yet to be submitted to City of Toronto staff for review.

 

I have asked the applicant to meet with Montclair residents directly to discuss their plans in detail, and they have agreed to attend this public meeting. City Planning staff will also be in attendance to answer technical questions pertaining to the development plan.

 

I look forward to meeting you and your neighbours on Tuesday, July 29, 2014 at 7pm to discuss this proposal in greater detail.

Brentwood Towers Public Meeting Notice

NOTICE OF PUBLIC MEETING

 

 

WHEN: Wednesday, February 27th, 2013, from 7:00 to 9:00 pm

WHERE: First Unitarian Congregation of Toronto, Sunderland Hall,

175 St. Clair Avenue West

SUBJECT: The proposed redevelopment of 281 – 289 Avenue Road

 

 

Dear Resident,

 

This is a very complex and challenging situation. The Brentwood Towers is already a high density community and the construction of new homes along the western portion of the complex will reduce the amount of common space available for residents.

 

I am also cognisant that O'Shanter will be applying to the provincial Landlord and Tenant Board to charge an Above the Guideline rent increase (AGI) to pay for repairs to their new garage. I do not support the practice of charging tenants for basic upkeep and have written a letter and had a meeting with the Minister of Municipal Affairs and Housing to express my concern regarding this appalling practice. I have also worked with Brentwood residents and the Federation of Metro Toronto Tenants' Associations to start a city-wide campaign on this important issue. Unfortunately, this legislation has not changed yet and City staff has advised me that it is probable that O'Shanter's application will be successful. O'Shanter has proposed that they will not apply for an AGI if their townhouse proposal is approved. It is a completely unfair proposition, but it is the reality we are faced with.

 

I have received numerous emails and phone calls from residents on both sides of the issue. Your neighbours have expressed concern about loss of space but also not having enough money left at the end of the month if their rent is raised any further.

 

I have worked with City Planning staff to reduce the number of townhouses, beautify the common space and ensure that residents will gain additional benefits should the townhouse proposal be approved. The local planner and urban designer will be on hand to present the new plan. I look forward to your input.

TO BE RESCHEDULED: 183 – 195 Roehampton Avenue & 139 – 145 Redpath Avenue Public Meeting

City Planning staff have advised that the Public Meeting for 183 – 195 Roehampton Avenue and 139 – 145 Redpath Avenue will need to be rescheduled. The original date was June 17, 2014, and the meeting was to be held at City Hall – Committee Room 1 as part of the Toronto and East York Community Council June agenda.

 

Once the new date for the Public Meeting is confirmed, I will share this information through my e-newsletter and website, along with the final City Planning report.

   

Community Meeting: Save the Glebe Manor Lawn Bowling Club green space!

 


 

Dear Residents,


I have been told that a developer is in the process of purchasing the Glebe Manor Lawn Bowling Club property from the Club’s Board with the intent to build townhouses on the site.


I know how important this green space is to our community. That's why I've been proactively working very hard to acquire this property as a public park since this issue came to my attention several months ago. Please join me, City staff and your neighbours to discuss this important issue.

Where: Hodgson Sr. Public School, Gymnasium, 282 Davisville Avenue
