Online Public Meetings to Discuss Development Settlement Proposals for 22 Balliol Street & 155 Balliol Street

While much of the world has been put on hold, the development review and approval process has been pushed forward by the provincial government. As a result, our community has decisions to make regarding two applications on Balliol Street: 22 Balliol Street (Sobey’s site) and 155 Balliol Street (91-131 Balliol townhomes).

As you may know, the property owners filed applications to the City to redevelop the sites with new towers and replace the existing structures on-site. Both applications have since been appealed by the developers to the Ontario Lands Tribunal (OLT, formerly known as LPAT and OMB). Under mediation, there have been several changes to the original application that have been proposed by the two developers

Given the community’s opposition to the original proposals, I do not believe I have a clear mandate on behalf of the community to support settlement offers at City Council without first speaking to you first. That’s why my office and the South Eglinton Ratepayers’ and Residents’ Association (SERRA) are holding two community consultation meetings to present the revised plans and receive your feedback before any decisions are made. You can read more information about the context of the meeting underneath. In order to partake in the meeting, please pre-register by using the following information:
