Dear Resident,

I hope this letter finds you and your family well as we navigate these very challenging times. I am reaching out to invite you to a public consultation meeting that my office is organizing to discuss the new development proposal at 65 Raglan Avenue.

City Planning has informed my office that they are expecting a new, revised application from the developer that will see some significant changes to the original proposal. As this development has already been appealed to the LPAT (Local Planning Appeal Tribunal), City Planning and Legal will require City Council direction for the appeal hearing that is scheduled for February. This is why I am organizing the meeting – to get a sense of the community’s stance on a new proposal that the developer is bringing to the table.

The new proposal (which is yet to be formally submitted) will see a reduction in height and storeys from 33 storeys to 28 storeys with a step-down to 25, and podium height reduction from 9 storeys to 8 storeys with a step-down to 5. A big change from the original proposal is also the inclusion of a new off-site park that would provide a direct pedestrian connection between Tichester Road and Raglan Avenue via the new site. At the meeting itself, the developer and their team will present the new proposal in more detail and provide some visual material to easily showcase the changes.

I have been advised that City Planning will be recommending Council to support such a proposal. However, my role is to represent our community and my position will be heavily influenced by the feedback we receive from our community. I encourage you and your neighbours to join the meeting. I understand that not everyone will be able to attend, so feel welcome to share any additional comments directly with my office at Councillor_Matlow@toronto.ca and with the Planner for the file Sipo Maphangoh at Sipo.Maphangoh@toronto.ca.

In order to make sure that everyone has access to the information and discussion from the meeting, we will be recording the presentation and panel discussion which I will post on my website at www.joshmatlow.ca/65raglan. An important note for anyone who is attending and is concerned about privacy, the format will not show any of the attendees, only your voice will be recorded if you wish to ask a question or make a comment. If you are not comfortable with participating in this format, you are welcome to observe the meeting and contact my office directly.
