Re: Commendation on passing Councillor Josh Matlow’s Motion on Taking Action on the Roots of Youth Violence
Dear Mayor Ford and Toronto City Councillors,
The purpose of this letter is to formally and publicly commend you for supporting Councillor Josh Matlow’s motion “Taking Action on the Roots of Youth Violence.”
The City of Toronto has been impacted in the past months by the tragic loss of many of our young citizens due to youth violence. This is a priority that affects us all and I am delighted that the City of Toronto is working towards addressing this very complex issue.
I am also taking this opportunity to invite you to review the Executive Summary of the Roots of Youth Violence Report which I co-authored with the Honourable Roy McMurtry. Enclosed in the envelope, you will also find a CD where you can access all volumes of the report and a copy of Ontario’s Youth Action Plan.
In closing, I believe that all levels of government, municipal, provincial, and federal, must work in collaboration with each other to address this very important issue.
As Torontonians, Ontarians, and Canadians, we must care for the younger population as they are the future of our great city, province, and country.
You deserve to be congratulated and thanked for acting on the Roots of Youth Violence.
Sincerely,
Dr. Alvin Curling
