Councillor Josh Matlow

Thank you from Councillor-Elect Josh Matlow

Dear friends, neighbours and residents,

Thank you so much to the residents of Ward 22, St. Paul’s for your trust and confidence in me.

Over the past several months, and over the years I’ve served as your school trustee, you and I have discussed the priorities we have for our community and our city.

You’ve told me that you want a councillor who will provide leadership on ensuring residents are no longer subject to decisions facing their neighbourhoods but that they should be genuine partners in the decision-making process, that our transit system must be improved, modernized and expanded, that there should be better design standards for new architecture, that our parks and streets should be clean and safe, that construction should be done in a way that is far more reasonable and considerate to communities, that local businesses and community events should be supported and our environment and public spaces protected, that our city should be more accessible to all and that City Council must be more thoughtful with your tax dollars, cease the partisan bickering and focus on getting real results for Toronto.

I’ve listened to you and am looking forward to working hard on your behalf.

To those of you who voted for Chris Sellors, William Molls or Elizabeth Cook, please know that you can always call on me if you need support. I respect your decision and hope to earn your confidence. I intend to be open, transparent and accessible to each and every resident in our ward.

I would also like to thank Councillor Michael Walker for his 28 years serving our community. I intend to honour Councillor Walker’s independent spirit, integrity and deep care for our community.

In the new year, and after I have been sworn in and have our office set up, I plan to hold local meetings with our ratepayers and tenants associations, BIAs and neighbourhood residents to learn more from you about your priorities. In December, I will distribute contact information for my office to use whenever you are in need of our advocacy.

Let’s offer City Hall a thoughtful, creative and responsible new approach as we move forward together as a community.

Josh Matlow
Toronto City Councillor-Elect
Ward 22, St. Paul’s
