TTC Yonge Subway (Eglinton to Bloor) Closure this weekend

On Saturday, August 13 and Sunday, August 14, 2011, the Yonge Subway will be closed between Bloor-Yonge Station and Eglinton Station in order to begin installation of a new double cross-over section of track just south of St. Clair Station. When completed, subway trains will be able to be turned back at St. Clair Station. Regular subway service between these stations will resume on the morning of Monday, August 15. Two additional weekend closures will be required to complete this work; tentatively scheduled for September 17-18 and October 29-30.


Subway Service Changes: During the weekend closures;
• Subway trains on the Yonge-University-Spadina line will operate between Finch and Eglinton Stations, and between Bloor/Yonge and Downsview Stations.
• All trains on the Yonge line will turn back north at Eglinton Station and south at Bloor-Yonge Station.
• Frequent, accessible bus service will be provided between Bloor-Yonge Station and Eglinton Station, stopping on Bloor Street East at Yonge Street, and stopping on Yonge Street at Crescent Road, Shaftsbury Avenue/Alcorn Avenue, St. Clair Avenue and Davisville Avenue/Chaplin Crescent. Buses will enter to serve the Eglinton Station.


Work Hours
The track work will be conducted around-the-clock during the weekend subway closures.


TTC Crew Compound
A lunchroom trailer and a restroom trailer for the construction crews will be parked in the bus platform at St. Clair Station from approximately 5 a.m. Friday, August 12 until 6 a.m. Monday, August 15. The trailers will be connected to electrical power from the St. Clair Station.


Access between the compound and the subway tunnel work area will be via the St. Clair Station.  We regret any inconvenience that may be caused as a result of this work.


Other Work
The opportunity will be taken by other departments in the TTC to carry out work within the subway line between Eglinton and Bloor Stations during this weekend closure (weather permitting). Work such as; geotechnical investigations involving core drilling samples in the open-cut section between St. Clair Station and Eglinton Station. Some of the activities will be conducted at night.
