Toronto Police Service, 53 Division
75 Eglinton Avenue W.,
Dear Superintendent Reuben Stroble,
I have been contacted by many residents and businesses in my community who are deeply concerned about the marijuana dispensaries that continue to operate, despite the fact that they are illegal. These concerns stem from not only the illegal sale of marijuana, but also the presence of criminal activity and behavior that has a direct impact on the safety and security of the community. This includes an explosion and most recently, an armed robbery that took place this spring. It is abundantly clear that until a legalization and regulatory framework is properly implemented by Federal and Provincial government, that these operations do not have the capacity to operate in a manner that protects the public.
I am requesting that Toronto Police Services work to ensure that these illegal operations are subject to the same enforcement standards of any other illegal activity in the City that compromises community safety.
