TORONTO, Ont. – City Councillor Josh Matlow wants to get tougher on motorists who stop in live lanes during rush hour and increase the fine to $500.
You can see it on every downtown street every morning: drivers who stop in these lanes to either grab a coffee, drop off a passenger or for another reason, thus forcing other motorists to go around them.
The current fine for blocking a live lane on rush-hour routes ranges from $40 to $60.
However, Matlow believes that increasing the fine would act as a deterrent.
