A new tentative funding deal for school pools has been reached between the city and the Toronto District School Board.
The five-year agreement ensures all 33 of the board’s city-funded pools will remain open until at least 2017.
“Our city’s school pools are deeply valued by our communities,” says Josh Matlow, Toronto City councillor for Ward 22-St. Paul’s, in a release.
“They support our children’s education, assist in teaching life-saving skills, contribute to recreational opportunities and our quality of life- for youth to seniors, and everyone in between.”
The deal goes before a committee later this month and then the full city council in May.
