My letter regarding issues at 200 Balliol Street

August 1st, 2012

Dear Lorelei,

I’m writing to you regarding significant concerns I’ve received from tenants of 200 Balliol Avenue about property maintenance and the quality and upkeep of their units.

It has come to my attention that the water service in the building is variable and has been abruptly shut off without notice. I understand this has happened three times in the past month alone. Tenants are entitled to reliable access to water in their units.

They’ve also told me that there is a lack of accessible recycling bins and would appreciate the restoration of proper recycling containers on each floor of the building rather than simply having a bin outside.

Most importantly, a number of your tenants have told me that your building’s temperature is often far too hot and that this make their apartments very uncomfortable. I understand that one tenant has even been hospitalized three times due to dehydration as a result of the heat.

I would appreciate a prompt response from you, outlining an immediate timetable for resolution of these issues. Tenant health, safety and quality of life is very important to me. I expect that it should be a priority for you as well.

I look forward to hearing from you at your earliest opportunity.
