Re: Naming of the playground at June Rowlands (Davisville) Park to the Sharon, Lois & Bram Playground
The celebrated, Toronto-based children’s music and entertainment trio, Sharon, Lois & Bram, have been performing quality children’s music and entertainment for over three decades and continue to be cherished and loved by many generations of children around the world. Their contributions are not only cultural; Sharon, Lois & Bram have been members of UNICEF since 1988 and were appointed National Ambassadors by UNICEF Canada in 1989. They used their television appearances to support the annual trick-or-treat penny drive campaign and received the Order of Canada in 2002 for their commitment to improving the lives of children around the globe. Sharon Hampson, Bram Morrison and Lois Lilienstein are all local residents of midtown Toronto.
I am requesting that Council approve the naming the playground at June Rowlands (Davisville) Park in honour of Sharon, Lois & Bram, and that the playground sign be in the shape of an elephant. This renaming would not serve as a commercial promotion because the group no longer regularly tour and perform together. The Sharon, Lois & Bram Playground would be a perfect way to mark their 35 years of entertaining and supporting worthy causes for children.
Recommendation:
1) That City Council approve the naming of the playground at June Rowlands (Davisville) Park to the Sharon, Lois & Bram Playground.
Thank you for your consideration.
Sincerely,
