Last week I was advised by Metrolinx that there would be major changes coming to the intersection of Bathurst and Eglinton, where the new Forest Hill LRT station is under construction. With the past and current iterations of the construction staging, Metrolinx had imposed a northbound left turn prohibition from Bathurst onto Eglinton. This has been a source of massive traffic disruption to our Cedarvale neighbourhood over the past few years. Through the use of GPS navigation, many commuters have been cutting through the neighbourhood in search of a way to access Allen Road, in part due to the turning prohibition at this major intersection.
I am happy to inform you that Metrolinx has removed the prohibition and installed a new dedicated northbound left turn late with an advanced signal. You can see the more detailed notice by them at this link.
This is a long-standing issue in the community that I have been tackling with Transportation Services and numerous residents for the past two years. While we do not have jurisdiction over Metrolinx and their working zone as they are a crown agency, I will continue to advocate for the neighbourhood in any I can. I do hope that this seemingly small change will have a large positive impact on the traffic situation in the neighbourhood.
If you have any questions, feedback or concerns in regards to the upcoming setup, I encourage you to reach out to Metrolinx’s Crosstown team directly. You can find their contact information at this link.
