While it is important to stay home during these unprecedented times, I also recognize that folks are advised to exercise outside with members of their household to maintain their physical and mental health. The Welcome T.O. Winter plan provides safe ways for people to get outside in Toronto’s parks, including ice rinks, the new Walk Fit programs, and increased snow maintenance on 60km of paved recreational trails and pathways.
Multiple outdoor ice rinks opened up last weekend and the remaining rinks will open once the weather permits. Outdoor ice rinks will be open until March 21st, 2021. Hodgson Rink (on public school grounds) is now open and the Cedarvale Park Ice Rink will be opening shortly. Please note that there is currently a 25 person limit and reservations are required. For more information, and up-to-date information on opening dates for Outdoor Rinks please visit here.
Creating a natural ice rink in a local park is another way we can maintain a lively, supportive community during these difficult times. Applications for Natural Ice Rinks are open until December 31st, 2020.
I’m also happy to announce that multiple park washrooms in our ward will be open for the winter. Washrooms will be available throughout the winter at: June Rowlands, Cedarvale Park (in Phil White Arena), and Sir Winston Churchill (at the Tennis Club). Please visit here for more information on winter washrooms in parks.
