Update on 63-91 Montclair Avenue Development
Due to the developer’s appeal to the LPAT (Local Planning Appeal Tribunal) back in December, City Planning is reporting back to Community Council to get Council’s direction for the upcoming hearing for this development. The meeting agenda was published just last week, and includes a detailed staff report that you can find at this link.
As previously committed, I will be moving a motion to have City lawyers present at the hearing in order to oppose this proposal at the LPAT. Once Community Council makes its recommendation, this will go to City Council on May 5th for a final decision on the City’s involvement in the hearing. Ultimately, due to the appeal, it will be the LPAT that will make a final, binding decision on the proposal, rather than the City.
You are welcome to share your feedback with Community Council by directly emailing firstname.lastname@example.org, and referencing item TE24.18. Your feedback will be shared with all the Councillors and City Legal. Please note that the Community Council meeting is happening on April 21st so the feedback needs to be provided before. In the meantime, I encourage community members to get more information on this proposal and engage with this process to ensure responsible development. Along with the City, the South Forest Hill Residents Association (SFHRA) will also request Party status at the LPAT, which will allow them an active role in the hearing to help represent the interests of Forest Hill Village. The SFHRA have been working on community outreach, increasing awareness of the development in the neighbourhood and fundraising for the upcoming hearing. You can get more information on the SFHRA at www.facebook.com/SouthForestHillRA and connect with them at SouthForestHillRA@gmail.com.
